When Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha and Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan clashed on August 11, all eyes were on the box office.
Naturally, both movies are aiming for the prolonged weekend window provided by the Raksha Bandhan festival and Independence Day.
Surprisingly, though, they haven’t yet been able to reach their full potential.
Let’s begin now.
On Friday, “LSC” and “Raksha Bandhan” both struggled to find success.
Both movies debuted to mediocre reviews on Thursday before taking a big hit on Friday.
The expected Day 2 earnings for Advait Chandan’s LSC are about Rs. 7.50 crore, while the estimated Day 2 earnings for Aanand L Rai’s Raksha Bandhan are around Rs. 6.75 crore.
It should be noted that LSC has also been fighting against vocal requests to boycott the movie on Aamir and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s earlier “controversial” utterances.
First day collections
Due to the weekend, both movies could make a lot of money.
Contrary to what trade analysts had projected, neither movie’s opening weekend box office numbers increased.
Raksha Bandhan brought in roughly Rs. 8cr on Thursday, whereas LSC made between between Rs. 11 and 12 crore.
Compared to Kumar’s first two releases of the year, these numbers are less successful.
However, with a long weekend coming up, it is anticipated that the numbers will quickly start to rise.
“Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2” has the biggest Bollywood opening this year.
Speaking of the highest-grossing Hindi films, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, starring Kartik Aaryan, took in Rs. 14.11 crore on its first day.
It is Aaryan’s most successful single to date.
The next is Bachchhan Paandey (Rs. 13.25cr).
The final two positions were won by Samrat Prithviraj (Rs. 10.70cr) and Gangubai Kathiawadi, with LSC taking third place (Rs. 10.50cr).
