Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh’s coach Jaswant Rai urged people to watch matches with the right spirit and not troll players. On Sunday, September 4, Arshdeep was greeted with a lot of flak after he dropped Asif Ali’s catch in the 18th over of Pakistan’s run-chase in the Asia Cup Super Four match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Arshdeep’s drop catch turned out to be expensive in the context of the game as Asif Ali scored 16 off eight balls with two fours and one six. Although Arshdeep dismissed the right-hander in the last over, it was all too late by then for the speedster to make amends.
Captured by Babar Azam, Pakistan chased down 182 with one ball to spare and registered their maiden win in the Super Four. Arshdeep’s coach was clear-cut in saying that trolling Arshdeep for the drop catch was uncalled for.
